Highland Park Magnus Complete Collection

The Highland Park Magnus editions are a series of three limited bottlings celebrating the Viking history and the Nordic heritage of the Orkney Isles. Highland Park was established by Magnus Eunson in 1798. The first release, Earl Magnus, was released in 2009 and celebrates the life of Earl Magnus, born in 1075 when Orkney belonged to Norway. The base of this whisky is a 15 year old Highland Park, though selected casks from the 1990's were added for extra depth and character. A natural strength 52.6% ABV, this is one of just 5,976 bottles. The second bottling in the series celebrates Saint Magnus, one of the 6 canonised Norsemen born in the 11th and 12th Century, and was released in September 2010. Essentially a 12 year old that was bottled at a natural cask strength 55% ABV, from casks laid down in 1998 and before, this is one of 11,994 bottles. The third and final bottling of the series, released in July 2011, marks Earl Haakon, a deceitful and villanous murderer, whom incidently ordered the death of Magnus in callous circumstances. In reflection to the darker nature of this edition, the bottle is made entirely from black glass and the box from black wood. This is an 18 year old bottled at a natural strength 54.9% ABV and is one of just 3,300, completing an astounding series.
